Collaboration for Community Resilience

No single organization has the resources, expertise, or jurisdictional authority to handle every aspect of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery alone. Partnerships allow organizations to share intelligence, pool resources, eliminate duplication of effort, and reach populations that individual agencies might miss. The strength of a community's emergency response network is measured not by any single agency, but by how well all partners work together under stress.
Government Agencies
We align our resources with guidance from federal emergency management agencies including FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security, and state emergency management offices. Government partnerships ensure our training recommendations and preparedness guidance reflect current national standards, including the National Incident Management System and the National Response Framework. These relationships also help us stay informed about grant opportunities such as the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and other federal funding streams that communities can leverage.
Non-Profit Organizations
We collaborate with organizations like the American Red Cross, local CERT programs, Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), and faith-based relief networks. Non-profit partners are often the first to establish shelters, distribute food and water, and provide emotional support to disaster survivors. Our CERT training resources support many of these volunteer-driven organizations.

These partnerships connect students and career-changers with accredited programs, practicum opportunities, and research initiatives that advance the field. Academic partners also contribute evidence-based best practices that inform our published guidance and training recommendations.

Private sector partners bring critical capabilities in logistics, technology, construction, and financial services that are essential during large-scale response and recovery. We work with organizations focused on helping businesses develop continuity of operations plans, conduct risk assessments, and build supply chain resilience. Companies with robust preparedness programs recover faster from disruptions and contribute to overall community stability.

We look for partners who maintain active programs or services related to emergency management, operate with transparency and accountability, and are willing to participate in joint exercises, content development, or resource sharing. Government agencies at all levels, accredited non-profits, educational institutions with relevant programs, and private companies with established emergency management or business continuity practices are all welcome to apply.
